Power Services South has been awarded the Transpower New Zealand Limited, Gore 220/110kV Interconnection – Civil & Electrical Works Contract.
Transpower has an 110/33kV substation located in Gore. With this contract we will be establishing a new 220kV switchyard by extending to the south of the existing switchyard, installing new 220kV and 110kV bays for two new interconnecting transformers, extending the control and relay room and upgrading the security and fire protection systems, uprating of the existing 110kV traverse and longitudinal buses, new oil containment system with SEPA unit, replacing the RTU with new SMS, a new special protection scheme and upgrade of the two affected circuit protections at Gore (GOR), Three Mile Hill (TMH) and North Makarewa (NMA). The project is to provide a more reliable electricity supply to the Lower South Island.
This $3.6 million project is key to Electrix as it is an opportunity to showcase we are the whole package with working alongside our southern transmission lines family who are installing the two circuit tee sections from existing NMA-TMH to GOR; as well as providing key power technician resources at three sites concurrently for testing and commissioning of the new circuit protections.
